## Connectivity in Selkirk

What is actually licensed and built around here — the starting point for any coverage job.

| Measure | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Nearest licensed site | 1.5 km west · Bell · 78 m structure |
| Licensed sites within 10 km | 3 (Bell, Rogers) |
| Fibre | Metro Loop / Xplore fibre is available here |
| Also available | Starlink, fixed wireless |

**What this does and does not tell you.** These are licensed radio sites from ISED’s spectrum database — where carriers are permitted to transmit. It is not measured coverage. A site three kilometres away can be useless if it is behind a rise or its antennas point elsewhere, and a distant one on a tall tower with clear line of sight can be perfectly good. Whether a booster will work at your address comes down to what actually reaches your roof, which is a survey, not a calculation. ## What the work looks like in Selkirk

Lakefront property has a specific problem: it is empty for long stretches, and the weather off Lake Erie is hard on anything mounted outside. Cameras here need to be rated for it and need to keep recording when nobody has been out for a month. The fact that Selkirk has fibre means the remote-access half of that is straightforward, which is not true further along the shore.

Selkirk Provincial Park also puts seasonal traffic through the area, and the campgrounds and seasonal sites around the lakeshore have guest-WiFi problems that are genuinely difficult — open sites, long distances, and everyone on at once in July.

## What people here ask for

- Weather-rated cameras on seasonal lakefront property
- Systems that run unattended between visits
- Campground and seasonal-site WiFi coverage
