Guest WiFi is the thing campers complain about most and the thing most parks have given up on. It is solvable, but not with indoor access points on a residential connection.

The Lake Erie shore across Norfolk and Haldimand carries more than sixty campgrounds and RV parks, two provincial parks at Turkey Point and Long Point, private resorts, and the marinas at Port Dover, Port Rowan and Long Point. They share a set of problems that ordinary WiFi work does not prepare you for.

Open sites have nothing to mount to and nothing to bounce off, so coverage has to be planned for open-ground propagation rather than walls. Load is seasonal and brutally peaked — a system comfortable in May falls over on the Saturday of a long weekend in July. And a captive portal that works for ten devices behaves very differently at four hundred.

The practical constraint is the calendar. Nothing useful gets installed in July. This work happens between February and April, before the gates open.

## What the job includes

- Outdoor access points positioned for open-site coverage
- Capacity planned for the peak weekend, not the average
- Captive portal and guest management that holds up under load
- Backhaul sized honestly for concurrent users
- Gate, comfort station and storage compound cameras

## Common questions

### Why does our campground WiFi fail on long weekends?

Because it was sized for the average rather than the peak. Concurrent device counts on a holiday Saturday can be five or ten times a normal midweek night, and both the access points and the backhaul have to be specified for that number. A system that is fine in May and unusable in July has not failed — it was never built for July.

### When should we schedule the work?

February through April. Installing during the season means working around guests, and any problem found mid-season is very hard to fix without disruption. Parks that plan this in late winter get a system that is tested before the first long weekend rather than during it.

### Can you cover a site with no buildings to mount on?

Yes, but it needs planning rather than improvisation. Poles, existing service posts and purpose-built mounting points all work; what does not work is an indoor access point in a comfort station trying to cover two hundred sites.

- [CCTV Installation](https://securitycamerainstallers.ca/cctv-installation): A commercial CCTV system has a different job from a residential one. It has to produce footage that is actually usable weeks later, by somebody who was not there.
- [Cell Signal Booster Installation](https://securitycamerainstallers.ca/cell-signal-booster-installation): A booster does not create signal. It takes whatever is reaching your roof and makes it usable inside — which is why where the outside antenna goes matters more than which kit you buy.
- [WiFi Installation](https://securitycamerainstallers.ca/wifi-installation): Fibre arriving at your house does not put WiFi in your shop. Those are two different problems, and the second one is the one nobody solves for you.
